Where We Began

IMI Global was founded in 1995 by husband-and-wife team John and Leann Saunders, with a simple goal: to help beef producers prove the integrity of their product and earn recognition in the marketplace. What began as a small startup providing Source & Age verification for ranchers has grown into the nation’s leading beef verification company. In 2006, IMI Global joined the Where Food Comes From family, expanding our reach and resources while staying true to our roots. Today, as a division of Where Food Comes From, IMI Global remains laser-focused on the beef industry, delivering the same trusted service under a bigger umbrella of food verification expertise.

With 30 years of experience, IMI Global has verified millions of cattle and worked with thousands of producers across North America. Our team is made up of ranching and agriculture professionals, experienced auditors, and dedicated account managers who understand the challenges of beef production firsthand. Based in Castle Rock, Colorado, and serving producers nationwide, we pride ourselves on being customer-centric and solution-driven. We stay up-to-date on ever-changing market requirements – from export protocols to consumer-driven label claims – so you don’t have to navigate them alone.
